Stop sharing playlists with other family members

How can I stop seeing playlists from other members of a family sharing group with Apple Music subscription. We don’t want to see each other’s created playlists.

Hi, nrow, and thank you for using Apple Support Communities. We understand that you want to stop sharing playlists. We'll be glad to assist. To stop sharing a play list:

1) Open your Music app and navigate to the playlist you want to stop sharing.

2) Tap Edit in the upper right corner.

3) Toggle Public Playlist off.

4) Tap Done

Aside from that, playlists shouldn't automatically be shared. If everyone in the family is seeing them automatically, it may be possible that each member is signed in with the same Apple ID. If that is the case, each person would need to sign in with their own ID.

We hope this helps out.

Cheers!

Thank you for your reply. When I open Apple Music on my iPhone and navigate to a playlist I do not have an “edit” option. Opening the three dots in the top right corner does not offer the option to stop sharing as a public playlist.

I think the problem we have is that we are all using the same Apple ID. How can we confirm this and then change it so that the problem of us all editing and deleting one another’s playlists stops?! I thought by using family sharing this wouldn’t happen but I don’t think it is set up properly. If we change it will some of us lose all the lists we have created and have to start from scratch on a new Apple ID?

Hi, nrow. Your Apple Music membership is linked with your Apple ID. You use this Apple ID in the iTunes and App Stores to purchase and download new content, and also to verify your Apple Music membership and grant you access to the content. You can sign out (and verify if each person is using the same Apple ID) of Apple Music by signing out under Settings > [Your Name]

Here's a link with more information to check out:

Take care!
