Text messages disappear and reappear on imessage Iphone 12 pro

I have a iPhone 12 pro and it is only one month old. My previous phone was also iPhone 12 pro and it had the same issue. Every single day I would have a random iMessage disappear and then reappear AFTER I clear the app from the background (sometimes works) or even restart the phone. The random message that disappears looks completely blank while the other messages are very much visible. I attached a picture below to illustrate this. I did turn off and turn back on iMessage in settings. I did do Manuel Set-Up in my phone then backed up from iCloud after. I also reseted my phone to factor settings not to long after. My messages are set to deleted after 30 days, which is unrelated because the messages that disappear and reappear are RECENT(less than a day old). I have plenty of phone and iCloud storage. I have at&t.

Please someone tell me how to solve this. It is very irritating that I have this bug and others seem to not have it.

Attached is proof. One message disappeared then i cleared my background message app and it reappeared with not just the missing message, but also another one that was hidden. Notice the times I circled. Unbelievable.

Sydsyd7,

Thank you for that information. You mentioned that you had this issue on your old phone as well, is that correct? If so, restoring your iPhone again and setting it up as new would be the best way to confirm that this issue is not with the backup. Once set up as new, you can sign into your iCloud, allow your data to sync to your device and manually go into the App Store to download any apps you may need. Then use your device as normal and see if this continues to occur.

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

if you are still experiencing this after setting up as new, you'll want to reach out to Apple support for further assistance. Depending on your region, you may be able to reach them here: Get Support.

Take care!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities Sydsyd7,

We can definitely understand how inconvenient a disappearing message can be and would be happy to help. Is this happening on the latest version of iOS 14 (iOS 14.7.1)?

You mentioned that you restored the device to factory settings, did you set it up as new at that time and test to see if this continues?

Does this happen with the same thread every time or does it happen to random threads?

Have you tried following the steps here: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch.

Have a good one!

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes this is occurring on the latest apple update. I tried all of the steps you listed. Nothing worked.

Today multiple messages disappear and some messages are starting to disappear in the actual conversation. I attached a picture for reference. Isn’t this bizarre? Why does my phone have a virus and how do I get rid of it? Its bad enough to open my message app and scroll down to have more than one disappear and then reappear when I scroll up (sometimes).

Should I get a new phone? Could the virus be on my icloud? I did have these problems with my old phone and I do think it was backed up on to my new one.
