Can't delete text message on iPhone XR, iOS 16.0.2

I found a fix that worked for me. Go to “Settings”, then go to “General”, then change your time and date a day forward, delete the messages, then change back to “Automatic”.

There is a known bug for this. But this is a work around that someone posted on a different page of this site. Seemed to work for a lot of people.

Steps to fix:

1. In the Messages app, go to Edit
2. Select "Show Recently Deleted"
3. Find the person / thread you want to delete,
4. Select that person and hit "delete".
5. Go back to your Messages and you should be able to delete now.

Did you find a way to delete the text? I’m experiencing the same issue. The suggestion above doesn’t work for me either

I have the exact problem. I even deleted the contact and restarted my phone and the message still pops back.

I had this happen today. The solution provided didn’t work for me. I had to click into the text, press one of the messages until a menu displays, Select More, click each message in the conversation and delete them all. When returning to my list of texts, it was finally gone
