I recently got the new Ipad Pro M1 12.9, but not from an apple store. The power button is really loose and I can hear an audible rattle when I lightly shake the device. Is it plausible to ask for a replacement, as I have spent quite a large sum of money just for a defective product?
If you bought it new from an Apple Authorized Reseller, make an appointment and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> Apple – Location Selector
After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

It's not possible for us (just users like you) to diagnose that kind of issue remotely, sorry.
As already suggested, if you think it is a manufacturer defect, have your device inspected.
Apple Technicians will offer you all the available options.

The time since the ipad was bought has already exceeded the 14 day for refund and return policy. But since it is a defect that was already there on purchase, shouldn't it be a 1 year warranty?

Thank you for the reply. Could I possibly send you a small clip of how loose it is, so that you can judge it yourself? I find my case pretty bad.
