iCloud Drive

On Mac, does the iCloud Drive make copies of files and keep backups on the cloud, or move the file's location? because I noticed after iCloud Drive being turned on, the total space taken on my Mac didn't go down.

By default iCloud Drive keeps a local copy on your Mac.

You can potentially reduce the space used on the Mac by turning on Apple menu > System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud (in the sidebar) > Optimize Mac Storage (near the bottom of the right side of the preferences window. There is an explanation of how that works immediately below where you turn it on.
