iPad won't charge / stuck on Apple logo

My iPad Pro (A1701) won't charge. I've tried multiple chargers as well as plugging it into my Mac. Sometimes, it will get to a black screen with the Apple logo, but I can't get it to go beyond there—and when I reboot it, it shows no charge again. It seems to recognise the chargers because the charger icon disappears.

I've tried the standard fixes: rebooting etc. I tried to put it into recovery mode (not sure if correctly), but my Mac still doesn't recognise a device.

Are you able to offer any suggestions?

Are you using a different Apple-sources Power Adapter - or something else. Ne aware that USB Power Adapters are not all created equally.

You would be well advised to seek assistance from the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad, Power Adapter and cables:

You have a 2017 iPad Pro 10.5”. This iPad should have been supplied with a standard 12W USB Power Adapter. A power source of at least 12W @5V is required to reliably charge your iPad; many computer USB ports cannot provide adequate power to charge your iPad.

Your iPad Pro 10.5” also supports USB PD (Power Delivery) Fast Charging - allowing use of Apple’s 20W, 30W and higher powered Power Adapters. As implied by the description, you can fast charge your iPad with an appropriate USB PD Power Adapter - the iPad “negotiating” its charging needs using the PD protocol. For info, the maximum supported charging rate is 18W (i.e., 2.0A @9V / 1.5A @12V).

If you are having difficulties with charging your iPad, consider that the problem may be with the Power Adapter, cable, or iPad. These support pages should help with troubleshooting:

Charge and monitor the iPad battery - Apple Support

If your iPad won't charge – Apple Support

Troubleshooting generally requires substitution of the Power Adapter and cable for another known-good item.
