Mac Air M1 USB attached keyboard, Enter key doesn't work

Hi. Recently purchased a Mac Air M1. Upgraded from an older version Mac Air. Plug in our USB keyboard and the Enter key on the number pad doesn't function as an Enter key. It is functioning as an Escape key. Works fine with the old Mac Air. Any ideas appreciated. No Mouse Keys enabled, keyboard works fine with the other Mac Air

Hi Ginja_Ninja,

Your Mac might think your keyboard uses a different layout than the actual one it uses. To reconfigure your keyboard for your Mac, follow these steps: Specify a keyboard type on Mac - Apple Support

We have actually just fixed this. The old Mac where it worked had Keyboard - Input sources set to US. The new M1 where it didn't work had Keyboard - Input Sources set to Australian. Once we changed it to US, the troublesome Enter key by the number key pad on our External Keyboard magically decided to play ball. There you go. Thanks for your time.
