Is there a solution for someone with no hands and using dictation and Siri with Numbers...

I am a 63-year-old disabled gentleman from the UK, and I'm unable to use my hands. I use my Iphone 11 with the assistance of my TeclaShield and Siri Voice Control.

The problem I found as a one-handed user on my Iphone is that I am unable to hold down buttons. For example I can not hold down the ''button'' to record a voice message on WhatsApp. I have chased up Apple who were very helpful, but unfortunately they couldn't help.

Hi Gurd58,

Welcome to the Apple Community,

where some of us do our best to help each other troubleshoot.

Sorry I'm not familiar with using WhatsApp,

so please excuse me if this suggestion below is unsuitable for you.

Wondering if you might want to use the "Voice Memos" app instead, to make your voice recordings.

Seems you'd need just a "tap" to start, and a "tap" to finish recording.

  1. To begin recording, tap . Tap  to finish recording.

Apple support have an article online (link below), with all the "how to" info.

Seems, while you’re recording, you can use another app,

as long as it doesn’t play audio on your device.

If the app starts playing audio, Voice Memos stops recording.

(You can pause Voice Memos and then continue. )

And to "Share a recording in Voice Memos on iPhone"

  1. In your Voice Memos list, tap a saved recording, then tap .
  2. Tap , choose a sharing option, select or enter a recipient, then tap Done or .

Hope this alternative may be worth trying :-)

Hello ~ I am so glad that you came to this forum and posted. I admire the fact that you are not letting limitations limit you. I sometimes struggle myself and have found the following link very useful :

Use AssistiveTouch on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Will you please post back and keep us updated on your progress? I am happy you found your way into this great forum and I am sure you will get many more helpful people to advise you as well.
