Apple watch appears to be dead

I put my Apple Watch (series 3) on the charger as usual. My cellphone received a message that my watch was fully charged, as usual. I removed the watch from the charger. It will not start even if I hold down one or both buttons for over 10 seconds as suggested in the instructions. Thoughts?

After charging for 30 minutes more, we now see the time on the top right and a small red thermometer on the left. The rest of the screen is empty and it will not restart by pushing and holding the button and the crown. What now? Thank you.

The thermometer means the watch is getting too hot,contact apple support here;
