My iMac died so want to remove my SSD hard drive and recycle it. However, where is the SSD? I removed the hard drive bracket and there's nothing that looks like a hard drive. Can somebody please tell me what's going on?
I recycled a 2011 27" iMac with two drives, one SSD and one rotational but not a Fusion drive. The rotational drive was easily found and removed. However, the SSD was under the motherboard which was difficult to remove. Since I was only recycling the unit I didn't have to worry about putting it back together correctly so just sort of "ripped" it out.
So look under the motherboard for the SSD. If you're just recycling it and don't have to have it in working order don't worry about ending up with extra screws, etc. Just put it together with masking tape and recycle. rkaufmann87's suggestion of having Apple send you a shipping container might be what you want. Since the Apple Store was very close to our home I just drove up, double parked and they came out and took it in.

You didn’t say if it is a Late 2015 21.5” or 27” model?
Hint: if it is a Fusion Drive or pure SSD model, then the blade SSD is on the back side of the logic board.
Don’t attempt to remove the SSD. Take it to an Apple Store for professional recycling.
Then you can have it recycled at no charge by having Apple send you a box and you can shipped it for free.
Get in touch and they will ship you a box, just send back the computer and power cord. Keep your mouse and keyboard.
I will pick a date and a place for ripping my logic board and the SSD out. Yes I don't need anything but my little SSD. This time I will wear my gloves and hopefully I will not make a huge mess. Can't wait to perform this upcoming iMac surgery. Thank you.

Mine doesn't have the hard drive at the right place? like in this video. Am I missing something.
21.5 model, that is, and pure SSD. Ah, it's hidden back there!
