Sustainability and updates

Why is it that older phones like mine (iPhone 6) cannot be updated in an age where we know that resources are far from limitless and we are all trying to minimise our impact? I just tried to download a financial app onto my phone and am unable to because it requires iOS 13 and above. It's really disappointing that such a pioneering, innovative company like Apple has stuck to the same old planned obsolescence strategy that all tech companies pursue.

Your phone doesn't have enough RAM to run newer versions of iOS

The phone was released 7 years ago.

It was released running iOS 8 and received updates to iOS 12.

You have an old iphone that can't be updated any further

Buy a new phone if you need a newer version of iOS or keep using your old phone
