iPhone security

I know iPhone says it cannot be infected by a virus. All apps are sandboxed. I have an iPhone XR, can it get malware or anything else that could interfere with the phones data or connectivity?

iPhone security and no viruses I understand that it is not possible for an iPhone to get a virus unless it is jailbroken. I'm just curious to know how that's possible? That being said... How does the iPhone prevent viruses?

It is theoretically possible if a bad actor has possession of the phone and/or the password that something might be done. But it would require actual hands-on operation of the device.
