Differing volume controls between side button and right top corner swipe

Why is it when I adjust the volume using the side buttons, the level is not the same if you top side right swipe down to the controls.

Hello SueW222,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We've reviewed your question and it looks like you have questions about adjusting the volume on your iPhone using the side buttons vs the Control Center. It's understandable that you'd want this clarified, so allow us to assist with that. The article that your question was linked from is very helpful when considering this issue: Use the side, Home, and other buttons on your iPhone. In this article, it explains: “When you press the buttons, you'll see the Volume under the indicator. When you're not using other apps, the buttons will adjust the ringer volume and you'll see Ringer under the indicator.” The Control Center volume slider adjusts the overall volume.

If you have follow-up questions, please let us know. We're here for you. Have a fantastic day!
