Can I uninstall iCloud on my Mac?

I hate iCloud, it has made an absolute mess of my photo collection. How can I get rid of it without deleting anything off my computer?

I followed the steps to sign out of iCloud but my photos are still accessible on the Mac I am giving away. What do I do? I followed the apple steps to sign out of iCloud before giving away my laptop but my photos are all still there even after restarting. what can I do to remove the photos from the laptop?

how do i disconnect photos from my mac I had another i cloud account connected to my mac which has photos that are still taking space in my photos. how do i disconnect my mac from those icloud photos? P.s. i am using a new icloud acocunt now

Change preferences in Photos on Mac - Apple Support

System Photo Library overview for Photos on Mac - Apple Support

Make sure all applications box are turned on Turn iCloud features on or off - Apple Support

Then archive the iCloud data on Mac Archive or make copies of the information you store in iCloud - Apple Support

And sign out Apple ID from Mac system preferences see the article Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac - Apple Support
