IMac Update

My IMAC is stuck in the recent update- all day- when I force quit and restart it comes back to the same update screen. HELP

Some details if you please.


Update as in Big Sur 11.5 to Big Sur 11.5.2 ??


The reason for asking is because profile is showing iMac 21.5 " 4k, macOS 10.14 which is Mojave.


As a guess, have you tried restarting with all external devices disconnected and Immediately hole the shift key and keep holding until the Apple Logo is presented and then release.


This will be Safe Mode and does several tings behind the scenes and no user interaction is required. It will boot very slowly - maybe 10 minutes.


This may or may not allow the update / upGrade process to complete - hopefully successfully.
