model number

I bought an iphone 12 pro max and the model number starts with an N..however online it says that I should start with M should I worry or

As explained by sbreman, that particular iPhone is a replacement.


That means someone,. likely the previous owner, had an issue with their original iPhone 12 Pro Max, took it to Apple for Service and it was replaced with the one you now own. It is not New, as it was owned by someone else before they sold to you.


The N means it was issued as a replacement for another iPhone that had some kind of irreparable issue.


There is nothing wrong with being a replacement. The replacement can be either refurbished or brand new, but if its refurbished, it is for all intents and purposes indistinguishable from new models and is guaranteed to work just as well. The Replacement iPhone will carry the remainder of the warranty of the unit that was replaced.
