No Voicemail Notifications

I have an iPhone 6s, and I don't get notifications for voicemails. I have gone into my settings and turned all the different notifications on, but it hasn't helped. If I miss a call when I have no service (which happens a lot living on an island), I get no notification of either a missed call or a voicemail. Is there any way to turn a setting on so that I get the small red dot with a number in it on the phone icon if I ever have a voicemail? I won't have any indication of a voicemail until I open the app to make a call and there is a small notification within the app. It has been frustrating because I have missed voicemails sometimes for days - even missing voicemails requesting a job interview.

Also, how long does it take for a voicemail to show up? I was traveling in Canada and had my phone on and off of roaming and airplane mode. When it was on roaming, I checked frequently to see if there were voicemails but none showed up. After returning to the US, I had multiple voicemails come through that mentioned the dates I had been gone and checking the app on my phone.

Hi KV275,

We understand you're experiencing some issues with your voicemails. If you're not receiving notifications for your voicemails, we'd recommend double checking what you have set in Settings > Notifications > Phone. We'd recommend checking that you have your badges enabled and your banner style set to persistent.

To ensure that you're not missing anything else, we'd also recommend reviewing Use notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

However, if you're simply not receiving your voicemails when you should, you'll need to contact your carrier next. Your carrier are the ones who would handle your voicemails and should be able to look into this matter further with you.

Cheers.

Hi KV275,

Thanks for the additional information. The red indicator that appears on a corner of an app is referred to as a badge. By ensuring that you have badges enabled within your notification settings, you should be able to see it appear when you have missed a call or voicemail that you haven't checked on yet.

If you're not receiving the badges as expected, be sure to double check with your carrier first about your voicemails as you mentioned issues with receiving them.

In addition, you may also want to consider attempting these troubleshooting steps below:

Quit and reopen an app on iPhone

Force restart iPhone

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Be well.

Hello Eric,

Thank you for your suggestions. All of my settings were already set as you suggested. This has been an ongoing problem, so I have checked multiple times to ensure that my notifications were all turned on and that the banner style was set to persistent. Is there any way to have the little red number show up on the corner of the phone app if I have a voicemail? I would love to have the visual notification on my screen.

Thanks
