MacBook Mini (M1, 2020) Logitech Unifying Receiver/M570 trackball connection issue.

I'm trying to use the M570 trackball connected through the Unifying Receiver. After updating to the latest version of everything, I can see the Unifying Receiver and I can also use the M570 trackball. But when I try to pair the two from the Unifying Software, it always fails. Regardless, the trackball connection is unreliable. Any suggestions on a fix?
