Internal Microphone is not working in Macbook Air

hi, I just noticed my Internal Microphone is not working! i tried to reset , turn it on and off but seems it wont work.. however if I use dictation, which i believe use internal microphone, it works perfectly. but my mic to use for skype etc is not working! i checked with the softwares as well but seems the problem is from the system preferences.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.12

The fact that it works for dictation lets us know the microphone is still working, so we want to take a look at the software that’s being used.


Based on what’s showing on your information, you have macOS Sierra 10.12 installed. You mentioned Skype not working, so you'll want to make sure this older version of macOS is still supported by Skype. See Skype Help and look for the requirements for Mac.


You will want to do the same for any other third-party software that is being used, make sure the macOS is still supported.
