Ancient ipod touch, can't log into icloud

My ipod is 10 years old. I'm getting rid of my pc that my itunes library is stored on.

I also changed email address so updated my apple ID which was fine.

However this didn't sync to icloud and I can no longer access I cloud.

It won't open with the old apple ID as that no longer exists but won't open with me apple ID either.

Apple have been utterly useless and cannot help.

How can I access my icloud please?

Windows, Windows 10

Thank you.

The trouble is, apple advised I could do it by deleting the device from iTunes, then logging out of iTunes and refinding the device, then it would install updates and allow me access to the cloud.

First off all though if have to restore factory settings to the ipod, which I'm reluctant to do as if I can't then get it to sync I can't play my tunes 🙁

I'm very reluctant to do any of the above just in case.

I did manage to delete the device from iTunes but it won't seem to refind it.....
