iMac 2019 / No sound output device

Hi,

I have an iMac 5K 2019 running macOS 11.5.2 which can't play any sound. Volume keys shows an unavailable indicator : https://i.imgur.com/tKlgxUa.png

Sound preference pane shows no internal speaker : https://i.imgur.com/pbpsoFm.png

Nothing in sytem report under audio : https://i.imgur.com/GmAXgcj.png

I've tried so far with no luck :

  • Resetting SMC/PRAM
  • Booting using D for hardware test or in safe mode
  • Connecting a jack speaker or an USB headset
  • Reinstalling Big Sur (keeping data and applications)
  • Clean reinstall

I have a bootcamp partition with Windows 10, and everything is working fine on Windows.

Do you have any idea ?

Thanks for your help !

When you did the factory reinstall did you migrate your user data back to the new installation?

If you did then download and run Etrecheck. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support  to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

IMPORTANT:

Before running Etrecheck assign Full Disk Access to Etrecheck in the Etrecheck's Privacy preference pane so that it can get additional information from the Console and log files for the report:

Also click and read the About info to further permit full disk access.

Copy the report

and use the Additional Text button to include the report in your reply.

Then we can examine the report and see if we can determine what might be causing the problem.
