how to stop sound effect when using "command + c" and other command combinations

Whenever i use "command + c" or "command + w" a sound effect is played.

Under "system preferences > sound > sound effects" presents the list of sounds, and, for the particular sound the is played / selected when using these key combinations.

I tried unchecking the "Play user interface sound effects" option under "system preferences > sound > sound effects" however, the sound is still be played.

Turning the alert volume down does solve this problem, however, all sound effect are now not audible.

Any guidance on how to disable the sound effect for either "command" key combinations or for user interface sound effects would be appreciated.

Is this really a user interface sound effect and not an alert sound?

Is the copy or paste operation actually performed?

AFAICT, there is no system interface sound effect for Copy or Paste (there is for moving to trash, empty trash, duplicate, for example).

You can try using this Terminal command to see what is set:

defaults read com.apple.systemsound

Among the settings there should be

"com.apple.sound.uiaudio.enabled"

with value 1 (if on) or 0.

You can try turning it off with

defaults write com.apple.systemaudio "com.apple.sound.uiaudio.enabled" -bool NO

Or even, in case some settings are corrupted, delete that thing all together, and then reset appropriately in system preferences:

defaults delete com.apple.systemaudio
