iphone tradein & non-functioning FaceID
I want to trade my iPhone X and upgrade to iPhone 12 Pro. My X is in great shape aside from one thing - my Face ID is not working. Will I still get value for the trade or does this dramatically harm the value?

It will drastically reduce the trade-in if they accept it.

Check out the article If an alert says Face ID has been disabled on your iPhone or iPad Pro.
See if anything in the support documents helps bring resolution. If the documents do not help and it is recommended you send your device in for repair, you may wish to wait until there is another iOS update for your device to see if that resolves the issue before sending your device to Apple. You can use your device by entering a passcode instead
If you had the screen replaced other than by Apple it will never work again
They may not accept it at all. Repair cost at Apple would be more than the trade-in and repair elsewhere would invalidate the trade-in.
Keep it as a backup phone is my advice.
Thanks for the reply. This isn't an OS update issue - the phone was dropped once and since that time, despite a few different service techs looking at it, FaceID just doesn't work. If they strip down these old phones for parts, everything else will be good to go - it's just that as-is, the FaceID function doesn't work.
