DVD Writer not recognised My Samsung DVD writer, model SE-218, no longer works with "Catalina" (and has not worked since 10.13). Next Problem: macOS Ventura 13.2.1 breaks compatibility with LG - Slim Portable DVD Writer. Actually, macOS Ventura 13, 13.1, 13.2, and 13.2.1 all break the compatibility with my LG Slim Portable DVD Writer. Model: GP60NB50 SVC: NB70 While this drive will work with macOS Big Sur, and macOS Monterey it no longer works with Ventura. Does anyone have this same drive and issues? I know that Ventura bread compatibility w/Pioneer drives. LG is of no help. Hitachi who also has their name on this drive are also of no Help.

Most external drives, including the Apple external DVD reader, require about 900 milliAmps power. The standard USB port provides 500 milliAmps, maximum.

 Menu > About this Mac > (system report) > USB ...

... the specific device in question will show Bid and Asked power requirements.
