iPhone 11 compatibility issues

I have an iPhone 11, purchased in the US, that I would like to send as a gift to a friend in Shenzhen PRC. I am concerned that it might not be compatible with the local cellular networks. Would it require modification to be usable in Shenzhen?

Best Regards, Dave

It will be compatible with networks in the PRC. But it must be unlocked from a carrier. Go to Settings/General/About and read what it shows for Carrier Lock. If it does not say “No SIM Restrictions” you will have to request an unlock from the carrier that it is locked to.
