iPhone 11 compatibility issue

I have an iPhone 11 that I would like to send as a gift to a friend in Shenzhen PRC. Would it need modification to be usable with local cellular service providers?

The iPhone warranty is not international, so there’ll be no coverage.

Repairs may or may not be available. An iPhone purchased in most places outside of China will not be the dual-SIM model sold in China, so there will be parts differences should repairs be required.

As mentioned above, ensure the iPhone is carrier unlocked.

Carriers have support requirements, as well: iPhone models supported by China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom's LTE, 3G, and 2G networks - Apple Support
