Black screen & spinning ball during information transfer

I'm doing a Migration Assistant transfer of old files and such from my old Macbook Pro to my new Macbook Air. It says 37 mins are remaining on my Pro, but the Air's screen has gone black, dim and has a spinning ball. Should I be worried that this is going to cancel or mess up the process, or is this normal and I should just wait until the transfers are complete?
