Help needed to find files moved from Dropbox to iCloud please!

I moved a folder which was on my MacBook, containing important documents, from Dropbox to iCloud by mistake. Many of the files in this folder which I moved are zero bytes, probably because they had not been downloaded from Dropbox to my MacBook at the time I moved it.

The full versions of the files in this folder which are zero bytes are no longer in Dropbox. I am hoping that someone here might be able to advise me as to if I can retrieve the ‘full’ versions of these seemingly lost files and if so, how I do this. Thanks all.

Hello benmjh,

It appears from your post that you are looking for some files that were moved.

Have you backed up the MacBook in the past? If so, then perhaps the files would be located in that backup.

If you use a browser to access either iCloud or Dropbox, do you see the files?

We would suggest reaching out to Dropbox to see if they have any backup system, or deleted file folder that these may have been moved to.

Cheers.
