iPhones and Motorcycles

Apple’s recent comments regarding camera degradation by exposing an iPhone to the sound and vibrations of certain motorcycles is concerning. Is Apple referring to just Harley’s, or other high powered cruisers like the Honda Goldwing? Does this problem occur when the phone is physically connected to the bike, or just mounted somewhere on the bike?

Mounted physically anywhere on the bike. The image stabilization hardware on the phone is a set of very sensitive accelerometers that sense motion of the phone to compensate for “shake” affecting the image, but apparently heavy vibration can damage the accelerometers. Apple appears to be vague about how much vibration is tolerable, probably because they don’t know.
