Screen capture Markup won’t save. [iPadOS 14.7.1]

Pretty simple:

  • use iPad on any app or navigate anywhere
  • take a screen capture (I use a Pencil swipe from the bottom left corner inwards)
  • do some annotations on it, crop, frame, etc
  • Save To Photos.

The result on the photos library is the full screen original screen capture with none of the edits or markup annotations.

Extra info:

Have seen other similar support threads on this but all of them from many months or years ago, either it was fixed and it came back or it was never fixed to begin with.

There was the suggestion about doing a rotate edit of the canvas and back before annotating but that option doesn’t appear, that seems to be only useful if annotating an already existing file on the Photo’s app and not directly from a screenshot.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Can’t find how to edit my original post to add more info to it.

Full page workaround:

By tapping “full page” at the top and back to the screenshot, then doing the markup annotations.

For when full page isn’t shown (as not all screenshots have it):

This one is weirder, do the usual screen capture markup, save to photos (it won’t show the markup just yet).

Go to a safari page, take a screenshot, tap on “full page” at the top and back.

A full page image will be on pathos but for some reason this will poke the Photos App Library update even older markups from older pictures that weren’t showing.

Sounds like an imminent fix is warranted.
