Are you receiving the following alert on your device: "A problem was detected with the TrueDepth Camera. Face ID has been disabled." If so, we'd recommend following the steps here: If an alert says Face ID has been disabled on your iPhone or iPad Pro
This will involve updating, if needed, and then exploring service if it persists.
