Pages is not spell checking

Pages is not spell checking

I have checked the appropriate box in Pages prefences and so spell checking should be working, but it is not. Anyone else having this problem? I am running Big Sur on new 24" iMac with an up-to-date version of Pages.

What language are you writing in?

Also check your Edit > Spelling and Grammar settings

Oh for goodness sakes. Some time ago I probably tired of Pages' wrong guesses as to what word I was (mis)typing and unchecked the Spelling and Grammar settings. Thanks for the quick answer to what was an embarrassing question.
