Hello Charlie,
I tried what you suggested but this did not resolve my problem. Since I have a SSD it was a bit of a long shot. Anyway i done a bit of digging and came up with some other people having the same issue.
Here are the sites just FYI.
But i don't think i will be doing what they recommend to solve the problem.
Hey everyone, I showed the Apple Store the link to the youtube video and also the link to the TenOne website. The metallic clinking noise is definitely not the hard drive and they tried to replace mine once already. It is a small and unecessary piece of plastic with little metal feet. It is one of the grounding components for the macbook pro but it is redundant and the apple store can remove it in about 3 minutes. My 2010 Unibody Macbook Pro is now completely silent! YAY
Do you find the keyboard really loud when you type on it? Same with trackpad? I just bought a new MacBook Pro 13" (three days ago) and the sound of the keys is such a distraction. I used to be able to type on my old MacBook Pro without making any noise...but now I am anything but subtle.
