Won’t start properly

I keep getting “ You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again.” But it just goes to the same place and states the same thing. Only other thing on screen is a list starting with ‘panic’ and talking about version mis match between kernel and cpu. It happened after an update.

What year model iMac?

see > https://support.https://support.apple.co

What update?

macOS or something else

Try starting up in Safe Mode.

see > https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

If Safe Mode doesn't help, startup in macOS Recovery Mode and Repair or Reinstall.
