Developer Account Country restrictions

Hi everyone,

We are working on releasing the IOS app in a month or so and before incorporating the company, we will have it on the personal developer account. I was wondering if I would have any country distribution restrictions if the app will be published with the Developer account of a person residing in the country of Georgia in Europe. Eventually, we will move to it to the US company account after incorporating but all the beta testing and initial publishing will be done on the personal account. Will we have any restrictions publishing the app globally if we go this route?

Both personal developer accounts and organization developer accounts can publish globally. Select regions for your app - App Store Connect Help - Apple

No one knows what your app does, so it is impossible to give accurate advice. As far as Apple is concerned, there are some differences between a business account and a personal account, but none that should affect your app. I also can't think of any differences between a personal account in Georgia and a business account in the US that would have any impact on global publishing.

But please read everything I said very closely. There are a lot of specific qualifications there, all based on my complete ignorance of your app, market, business practices, etc.

To be blunt about it, trying to release an app on a personal account in Georgia and then switch to a business account in the US is just insane. You only asked about publishing. You didn't ask about any of the long list of other things that are going to make your life a complete and total nightmare. You do NOT want to do this.

If you are serious about this company, then incorporate it in its eventual home. Get all your accountants, attorneys, and banks squared away. Get your DUNS number. Get your developer account. Get your tax forms and banking setup. I don't know how long all of that will take. I can't imagine it taking a month - six months if you are really lucky.

Thanks for your reply. If it doesn't have any impact on global publishing then we are good to go. I do not know why you think it is insane. Because, I really don't see how it could affect anything other than the restrictions when it comes to publishing. Maybe some differences with the privacy policy and the terms of use all over the world because we will gather some minor data from users but that's pretty much it. It's more of an MVP than a complete app with all the features at the moment and it's purpose is more of an experimentation before anything else. Actually, all of those things that you mentioned can be set up quite quickly even remotely so I really don't know why you think it is insane but thanks for the reply anyways.
