Hello, the “Ask Before Delete” function on my iPhone isn’t working regardless of toggling it off and on. Does anyone know how this can be fixed please? I am happy to re-install my email account if necessary however I would prefer to avoid a factory reset if possible . My phone is running 14.7..1. Thanks.

This behavior is normal. With the swiping motion, there's two types. A slow swipe will show a delete option, but a fast swipe will remove the email without an alert. Likewise, holding and then selecting delete does not offer a second confirmation since it's already a two step process to delete the message. So based on your description, Mail is working as expected.

We understand that your messages are being deleted without prompt. So that we can better assist, could you let us know some further details? For example, are the messages deleting without your input at all? Or, if you choose to delete them, was it not confirming the option prior to removing the message? If the latter, does it behave the same by selecting the trash icon as well as swiping to delete?

Thanks for your reply.
The messages aren’t deleting without input and it is only the swipe action that’s an issue - if I use the Trash icon it does still ask if I want to delete.
Hopefully this is repairable otherwise I’ll have to train myself not to use the swipe feature which will be challenging as it’s what so use on my outlook app.

Hello 1ssmith. Thank you for your reply. I might have to use a different mail app such as Outlook to get the functionality I want. because of my server/provider which deletes everything in Trash within 7 days and this cannot be changed unfortunately. Thanks once again.

Further to my last reply, when I hold down an email and delete it using the following menu, it also deltes without asking for confirmation.
