External Monitor Does Not Detect iPad Pro

I just purchased the new iPad Pro and am trying to connect it to my external monitor.

I am using a USB-C to VGA converter, but my monitor isn’t detecting any connected devices. The monitor works when connected to my Mac air with a thunderbolt 2 to VGA convertor. I also tested the USB-C to VGA convertor on a Surface and the monitor is able to connect that device.

Do I have to manual set the device to be able to connect to external devices? My monitor is older but is compatible with my other devices.

Hello pixiepix231,

We understand that you're trying to use an external monitor with your iPad, and it's not being recognized. We'd like to help out.

The following page has some great information and outlines the steps to connect your iPad to a display using a cable: Connect iPad to a display with a cable

"The USB-C port on your iPad connects to external displays so that you can watch video, play Keynote presentations, and more on a larger screen. Depending on the display that you're connecting to, you might need an adapter.

When you connect an external display, it shows what you see on the built-in display of your iPad, unless you're using an app that has a "second screen" experience (such as a video app)."

Please also check out the "Connect to displays and monitors" part of the following page for more information: Charge and connect with the USB-C port on your iPad

Take care!
