Turning off iCloud Photo Library

Can I transfer my entire photo library to a computer drive, then turnoff iCloud Photo Library to keep a limited set of full resolution photos?

Yes, you can export all your photos to your computer as shown in this article published by Apple ➔ How to download iCloud Photos and Videos to your PC (Mac or Windows). This will complete the first aspect of your question. You can then decide what to keep on iCloud and on your iPad. Note that whatever you delete on your iPad will be deleted on iCloud.


Then, on your iPad open Settings ➔ Apple ID (Your Name at Top) ➔ iCloud ➔ Photos: Here, you may set Photos to OFF. Once you do this then your photos will stop synching with iCloud from your iPad.
