iOS latest update to 14.8

I read the warning about the spyware from NSO Group and the need to update iOS to 14.8. So I tried, but my iPhone 6 doesn't allow it, giving me a message that says my software is up to date, even when the iOS version is still 12.5.4. Can anybody help me?

An unit running 12.5.4 isn't capable of 13 or above. If Apple decides it needs to be patched for yours, one will become available through the Software Update function.
