On Sept. 13, 2021 Apple released a security update for MacOS.
After applying it and restarting my mac, the white line below the apple reads “about a minute remaining...” but it has taken about an hour it has not moved from about a 10% with 90% still grayed out.
Can some one please help.
Restart your Mac. If you must, shut it down by pressing the power button until the computer shuts down, then restart it.

I just updated two Macs, a 2013 iMac and a 2012 MBP. Neither took longer than ~20 minutes.
