Won’t set date and time

I bought an Apple TV 2 and it won’t set the date and time

Normally it would get the date and time from Network Time servers on the internet. Either the device doesn’t have a functional internet connection, or your home network blocks (firewall) the connection attempts to Network Time servers.


  1. If you didn’t do the intended setup, then first reset to factory settings, as advised for new users of second hand devices.
  2. Restart both the router and Apple TV. Most often that solves internet connectivity issues.
