How do I get rid of paragraph markers (carriage returns) at the end of each line of OCR copied text? Could do this in the past when I used Word.

Hi BLynnB,
If the text has double paragraph marks between paragraphs and single paragraph marks at the end of each line, you can temporarily replace the double paragraph marks with something that does not occur in your document, such as this:
Replace All.
Now follow Viking's advice to remove all the other (single) paragraph marks.
Then replace all !@#$ with \n\n
Done!
(Edited to remove the examples which were misleading!)
Regards,
Ian.

Apple never wrote Pages to be a Word clone, or even compete with Word's functionality. If your OCR software is producing text that looks like the following in Pages (View > Show invisibles):
You can remove the extra paragraph marks with the following Find/Replace panel:
Click the right-arrow in this panel once to enable Replace All, and then click that to get:
Then, in my image of the Find/Replace panel above, enter \n in the Find field, and nothing in the replace field, and it will remove all paragraph marks in the entire document. Unfortunately, one cannot just select the text that you want this to act on and ignore all other text.
Hi BLynnB,
Does the imported text have two paragraph marks between real paragraphs?
A screen shot of a sample of your document will help us to see what you see.
Regards,
Ian
This doesn't work as I need to get rid of paragraph markers at the end of every line of text. Have included screen shot in above comment.
Thank you both so much Ian and Viking. You have saved me hours of editing.
Regards
Barbara
