What is available to enable opening and reading of PDF files?

Apple provides Preview in your /Applications folder. You should be able to just double-click on a PDF to open it in Preview. There is also the current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC that can handle PDFs that Apple's Preview does not. Do not download the Acrobat Pro DC trial.
