How to manually stop charging my laptop past 80%

I use my M1 MacBook Pro for work, and is plugged in all day. Optimised Battery Charging is turned on, but even when I use my laptop on battery and then plug it back in, it keeps charging it all over to 100%. Is there a way to manually stop this and limit the charge to like 80%? Even if it is a beta option, I would like to use it, to prolong the battery life.

Agreed, you do not have to micro-manage your battery. Let the software handle the nuance.

It may take a couple of weeks on power to work its way back to....

I see no issue here.

The function is automatic & does not overcharge the battery;

sensors within battery and Mac, do not allow for any danger.

To over-ride that would be a mistake. Use MacBook on charger as

long as you're near the grid; conserve the battery in charged state.

This keeps the 'charge-cycle count' at lower numbers to extend life.
