macOS Big Sur 11.6 - Printer Icon Stays In Dock

I've noted that after updating to macOS 11.6 that my printer icon stays in the dock after a print job completes. This was not the case previously. I can manually close it, but it would be nice to have it auto-close as it had in the past. Is there a way to enable this? I've tried rebooting and looking in settings and I don't see anything. I also don't see the "Auto Quit" option that was mentioned in some very old posts for previous operating system versions.

Have you tried removing the printer and adding it again?

This is a Big Sur 11.6 issue as others have reported. Why this happened with a security update is beyond me. All you can do is right click, quit for now. Perhaps with Monterey it will get resolved (maybe).

I presume you mean the icon being in the ‘Recents’ section to the right side of the dock. This will eventually be replaced over time as you use other apps. If you want to make any recent icon permanent just drag it to left beyond the vertical demarcation line.

I saw the same bug as many others have. Big Sur 11.6 created several new bugs. In fact I downgraded back to 11.5.2 on my M1 Mac (and it was not easy).

It's not in the "Recents" area, it stays running (with the little black dot underneath), though the window itself is not open.
