I want a better and faster power adapter for my 12.9 in 1st gen ipad, but the last time I ordered one it had the new c cable that of course does not work with my ipad. Suggestions please

Yes, Apple Support (at this link:--> Get Support ) can run remote diagnostics, battery included.
We, just users like you, can't do that remotely, sorry.

Thanks good idea, but I would assume there should be some what on the net to check the battery without going into the store
