Touch ID works perfectly on all but Apple Pay, how do I fix it?
I have set up Apple Pay, Touch ID works everywhere else and seems to try with Apple Pay; however, it never completes.
iMac 24″, macOS 11.6

Thanks,
First, let me clarify, Touch ID was/is working perfectly with every EXCEPT Apple Pay! The issue seemed to get all the security answered in Apple Way with the Touch ID sensor. It would start working then pause with the visualization of the fingerprint just moving around but never confirm/purchase.
After 2 hours on a call with Apple Car, and three "trial purchases that they and I were unable to cancel before they went to "preparing to ship", I believe we have it figure out. I will not know for sure till I make another purchase; however, I am done with "trials" that I will have to be billed for and return for credit -- Lot fo work those trials.
The issue seems to be one of the third-party apps I had running and riding in my menu bar, discovered by a process of elimination. I have stopped the app from starting and reached out to that developer ... want to see their response before I blast the app out over the internet.
Hi Woodiah,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
We are happy to help with the issue you are having with Touch ID not working with only Apple Pay. We recommend you try quitting all open apps, restarting your iMac and trying again.
We recommend you also try the steps in If Touch ID isn't working on your Mac.
Cheers!
Hi Woodiah,
Thanks for your follow up. Sorry to hear you've spent so much time trying to figure out what is going on with Apple Pay. Glad to hear you may have figured out what is happening. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
Have a nice day!
No problem -- The developer got back to me and said they have heard this from other users and are working to duplicate it so they can correct it. Which to me is a quick and good response, so sharing the app name is NOT a SHOT at the app. it is KeyCue, an app I have had for years and helped me learn keyboard shortcuts. Now I really don't use that much but had it in the background... I am sure this developer will take care of the issue, we just have to give them time.
Still would recommend it especially for anyone new to MacOS.
Hi Woodiah,
Thanks again for the follow up. Glad to hear that as well. Thank you for sharing this for our Apple Support Communities!
Take care!
