I want to be able to turn off global focus stealing in macOS

I cannot tell you how obnoxious it is that Mac OS allows any application to steal focus. I am too often in Slack or my code editor typing away while one application or another is updating and this results in constant focus stealing. It is infuriating. Severely degrades the user experience. Seems this is a decade long complaint that Apple really needs to address. Give us an option at the least! I want to be able to turn off global focus stealing! Apps should passively notify and nothing else.

You could turn off automatic app updates. App updates are almost never critical.

As for macOS Security Updates, they are infrequent and, when released, news spreads pretty quickly, so you would know about their availability. And anyway, they invariably require time & one or more reboots so there wouldn't be any focus stealing with them.
