What is "logd" in activity monitor? And under the "disk" tab of the activity monitor it shows "520MB" bytes written and "332MB" bytes read.

The disk space in my mac keeps on decreasing on its own without doing anything as such. And Im trying to figure out which process is writing a lot always to the disk. Please share.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.14

"logd" is the macOS logging daemon which is in charge of log files.

To look for possible software issues run EtreCheck and post the report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper.

How much free storage space do you have? You should always have at least 20GB of free storage space available.

Have you restarted the Mac? If a normal restart does not help, then make sure to uncheck to "Reopen Windows" on the next reboot option when confirming the system restart so all the open apps also clear themselves out as well.

Do you have the same issue while booted into Safe Mode?
