During the last IOS update it seems that they have taken away the 5 hour auto-lock option.
Why was this done and is there a way to have the iPhone lock with a longer time than 1 hour?

Ah OK, now I understand what you're looking for.
It is not Auto Lock setting, but Passcode lock.
You can set the lock time to 4 hours.
Settings > Touch ID and Passcode > enter your passcode > Require Passcode and select 4 hours from the list.

If you have a company or school email account on your phone they can remove that option and other security settings.
I have it on my phone (although I would never be so foolish as to use it).
Maybe if I can update to 14.8 I can.

I don’t recall ever seeing 5 hour autolock. The longest I have ever seen is 5 minutes. After that is Never.
Ah, you mean Require Passcode, which is not the same as autolock.

Here iPhone SE 2020 - iOS 14.8, possible to set up to 4 hours.
Do you use Touch ID or Apple Pay?
Neither is used here.
Looks like the option 'to extend to 4 hours' has been removed as an available option from that setting, as shorter time is more secure.
5 Hours.
Before the update I could go almost all my work shift and not have to unlock
the phone. Now I as having to do that every other time I go to answer a text
message. It's a problem with gloves on and grease hands.
Same here I don't use the fingerprint or Apple pay.
It really sucks having to take gloves off to respond if you have not
opened anything in the last hour. For me this makes is much less
secure as I will most likely remove the passcode.
If anyone has a work a round I would love to hear it.

Well I did the update and this is all I got.
I was trying to find the information on how to change the auto lock to never, but it seems to have been removed.
The iPhone here is updated to iOS 15, can still set Require Passcode to 4 hours.
